More about me
How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
I love to meet new people and feel privileged to be able to be a part of people's lives and help empower and create meaning in their lives. I am a good listener and have good communication skills. I strongly believe in inclusion of people with disabilities in their community and like to teach people about inclusion so people can have quality lives being integrated in their community.
What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
I enjoy meeting with people and working together to learn about their goals. I like to help explore options and resources to help meet these goals. I enjoy the diversity of the people that I partner with.
What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
I have been learning from people with disabilities and their families a good portion of my life. They taught me that quality of life and what is meaningful in a person's life can be so different and diverse and how that needs to be honored. My 30 plus year of experience in this field of work has given me connections and knowledge of the services and supports available to people with disabilities. I'm a good listener, both verbally and non-verbally. I am also a caregiver for a family member that has multiple sclerosis and am facilitating MS support groups.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I spend time with my family and have 6 grandchildren. My interests include fitness, natural health, and nutrition, NFL football, hunting, fishing, running, biking, and snowshoeing. I especially enjoy running or snowshoeing 5k races. I am also involved with my church; pianist/organist and involved with Guatemalan Mission Trips.
