Specialties (e.g., working with autism, the elderly, employment for people with disabilities or youth in transition, mental health, experience with assisted technology)

Before my path lead me to TMG, I worked for an Independent Living program that supported youth and young adults who were in foster care or aged out. This experience has allowed me to support an individualís transition plan to independence and continue to mentor those in the community who are in need of permanent relationships. In my previous work as a Community Health Navigator for a hospital, I connected with families in the Milwaukee Community. In that role, I worked with Milwaukee public schools, governmental agencies and various grassroots organizations in order to build community. I educated families on community resources while supporting their goals so they can feel empowered. I believe it is important to meet individuals where they are in their growth and choices they make in order to improve their lives. I have had the opportunity to coordinate and lead many community events that educate the community around resources, opportunities and awareness in the Milwaukee area. I enjoy building relationships. I believe that everyone has a light inside and it is important to always allow that light to shine so that it can continue to stay bright in the world because one day that light may inspire others.

How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
Clearing the path ahead means supporting you and being creative in accomplishing your goals, appreciating your passions and respecting your growth that comes from reaching those goals. I would work with you to see what resources you already are aware of and build on those in order to leverage your IRIS budget. I will support your education and see how we can keep you aware of community resources and social supports that will allow for you create the life you see for yourself.

What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
Being an IRIS Consultant is fulfilling and my favorite part is building relationships. Relationships that allow for one to continue to grow into the individual that they are over time. Experiencing, growth, breaking barriers, being supported and reaching goals all make up the relationships that allow for a participant to learn. Learning is an ongoing adventure and learning about individuals as they self direct their care is truly a privilege.

What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
Working in the community in various capacities, I have always had an open mind when interacting with people. Active listening and being truly present when supporting individuals has strengthened my experience when it comes to building relationships. I have had to grow and learn from various aspects of each person ís unique individual characteristics and challenges. Dealing with families in crisis, understanding the social barriers of community and working with families through those challenges has not only allowed for me to grow, but to make an impact and plant small seeds of inspiration into people so that they may to one day make a difference.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
My children are my world. Spending time with my teenage daughter, eight-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son is an everyday pleasure of mine. Family time is important time. I spend a lot of time with my fiancÈ, children, sisters and nieces doing family activities such as Bucks games and community events. I love to travel and see the world. I traveled to Cuba recently and this experience changed my life. I collect crystals such as amethyst, quartz, emeralds and others. I love to dance and laughter is the cure of all things in my life. Going to comedy shows and watching funny movies is something I truly appreciate. I enjoy running and spending time in nature. The sun is my best friend. The moon is my second. The stars are few and in between.
