More about me
How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
I believe in listening to people as they discuss the type of life they envision for themselves. I encourage individuals in IRIS and family members to make decisions about goals and services. I offer options and make suggestions of community resources, that might help them reach their goals. I am committed to being responsive in a timely manner when they request assistance. I empathize with situations that are often times stressful and challenging for individuals in IRIS. I strive to be a person they can count on to help them create a network of supports.
What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
The most enjoyable part of my job is meeting the individuals I partner with and assisting them to create a meaningful plan. I enjoy working with all the individuals I partner with, but it is truly rewarding to see young individuals find meaningful connections through, employment, camps, and day programs.
What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
I believe working with students with disabilities as they transition from high school, prepared me for working in long term care, and being an IRIS Consultant. I have learned quite a bit of the challenges facing older adults, and have found I truly enjoy assisting them as individuals in IRIS and caregivers.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I have a golden retriever and three cats. I like to take walks, run, and spend time gardening. I am an avid newspaper person, and must have my paper and coffee to start the day.
