More about me
How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
When I partner with you, I will listen to you so that I can learn about you and your goals for your life. Together we can explore options and develop a plan to achieve your goals. I want your supports and services to make sense for you and your life. I will help you evaluate and adjust your plan as you move towards achieving your goals.
What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
I believe in self-direction and the opportunity it provides for people to choose what is important in their lives. I want them to have control over their goals, supports and services, and who will provide them. My biggest joy is when a person connects with the people and things needed to achieve a goal. I enjoy working with people of all ages and even though my experience with CESA had been with young adults, I find I really love working with older adults.
What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
My most valuable experience has been raising a daughter who has disabilities. She has taught me to listen and observe so I can recognize and value her strengths. She has also taught me that even though she needs support, I need to let her make choices and be as independent as possible. My work with CESA #12 taught me to value education and the experiences that are available to students which will prepare them for life after High School. It also taught me the value of approaching life as a team, surrounding people with the support, so they can have a full, happy life.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy being outdoors, especially golfing, boating, and walking. I hope to hike the Grand Canyon someday. I love to read, especially mystery novels. I admit that I am obsessed with a few games on my tablet. I volunteer with a local Special Olympics team and enjoy the athletes' enthusiasm and joy in competing.
