More about me
How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
The first step in partnering with someone is to listen. I like to get to know the people I am working with, where they are in their lives, where they want to go and what they wish to do. I enjoy helping people come up with ideas to get them where they want to be and providing the necessary support and follow up needed so they can achieve their goals.
What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
One of my favorite things about being an IRIS Consultant is working out in the communities of the people I partner with. I believe it is a great asset to be able to meet with people in their home and in their community and to be able to share information about local resources.
What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
Working with complex programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and Supplemental Insurance was a great base of information for working within the IRIS Waiver program. These programs are complex and ever-changing. That position also provided a lot of experience in helping people advocate for their benefits and seek out local resources. It helped me to learn to look at issues from all sides and consider all perspectives when working towards a goal.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time I like to do yard work and garden. I also like to spend time with my boys and husband, watching movies, making dinners, and in the summer months I go to farmer's markets with my neighbor.
