Care Responsibilities

Your TMG IRIS consultant is your partner as you create a plan that meets your needs and stays within your IRIS budget. Your TMG IRIS consultant can connect you to resources in your area, and will be a great source of information for any questions you have about the IRIS program. In a self-directed program like IRIS, you decide who provides your support and services and when they happen. You may have natural support from people in your life, or you may choose to purchase the support you need from an agency or someone that you hire directly. Your TMG IRIS consultant will be there to talk through these decisions with you, and will help you put a plan in place that reflects your choices.

More about me

How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
In order to partner up with people to "clear the path ahead,” I like to envision the person I'm with and myself in a vehicle. The person I’m partnering with would be in the driver seat. He or she would be the one turning the steering wheel and taking the lead in how to clear the path. I would be the passenger's seat helping to provide any support or navigation. I see this process as a team effort. I listen to the person to know where he or she is desiring to go and how he or she would like to get there. I provide support and insight as needed.

What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
I am passionate about building positive, genuine, person-centered relationships to help produce quality outcomes defined by those that I work with.

What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
Prior to coming to TMG, I had the wonderful opportunity to work with adults that had mental health and substance abuse concerns. I used Motivational Interviewing to help ensure services were person-centered. Prior to that, I worked with children, specifically girls, from the ages of 5-18 on empowerment and teaching them to have courage, confidence and character through outreach designed programs. I also have worked with those needing in-home care and helped coordinate services for them. I helped lead five Community Learning Centers as well as provided case management to adults with developmental disabilities and at times those with a dual diagnosis to provided person-centered care for about six years. Additionally, I have had the pleasure of working with the aging population and provided case management to those in our program for a few years. I helped link those in need to community resources. In my personal volunteer experiences, I've worked with youth and young adults and worked on empowerment and strengthening trusting relationships for over ten years.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy having gatherings to move past surface level conversations and really build genuine relationships with others. I have grown to love traveling and being exposed to beautiful, breath-taking, natural views and global diversity. I enjoy good food and trying new restaurants with my husband and friends. I'm growing to love reading to help strengthen myself and grow. Quality time with loved ones is also something I incorporate into my free time. It’s something I value greatly.
