More about me
How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
I enjoy working closely with the people that I am partnered with by asking questions and listening to their responses with an open mind and heart. I fully believe that everyone has value and potential to be an active member of society and should be fully included in the community to live, work, and play based on their individual needs, wants, and preferences.
What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
After many years within the public school system as a Special Education teacher, I enjoy being out and about in the community, as well as, being able to meet in the homes of the people that I am partnering with to support. I enjoy the meaningful discussions to develop an ongoing plan to assist people to live at home, work in their community, and to be cared for by their loved ones.
What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
As a retired Special Education teacher, I have extensive experience working with children and young adults with disabilities and their families for many years. My daughter has had an Individualized Education Program since she was 3 years old while enrolled in the K-12 setting and now, as a young adult, has received support from the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation and is living a successful and independent life based on her plans for the future.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
During the summer months, I enjoy working in my garden, and being outside. Power walking in my neighborhood year round is my favorite way to stay healthy and spending time with my two young adult children and two beautiful grandchildren brings joy to my life.
