More about me
How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
I partner with people by building a relationship with the person and their families and supports. I feel being honest and building trust are keys to a good relationship. I listen to the person's needs and desired outcomes while helping them break barriers so they can fulfill their own goals. I am able to give resources and help answer questions regarding services available while the person builds their team of support and services.
What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
I enjoy partnering with individuals and their families to empower them to make their own decisions, based on their own desires and needs, so they may live the most fulfilling life possible.
What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
Having over 24 years of experience with children, adults and older adults as a care manager and through the ADRC has prepared me to become a TMG IRIS Consultant. I know resources, have a good relationship with agencies in the community and enjoy working with all populations. I have knowledge about the long-term care functional screen and MA criteria. I have worked with the court system when needed, but focus more on developing Powers of Attorney for Health Care and Finances when possible. I also worked in a hospital and have become knowledgeable of admission criteria and resources in other counties.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband, two teen boys and our dogs. I also like to scrapbook, go to lunch or dinner with friends, visit family and cook/bake. I read mystery or 'thriller' books and like comedy, medical and mystery TV shows. My favorite physical activities are walking, swimming, volleyball and watching basketball and football.
