Care Responsibilities

Your TMG IRIS consultant is your partner as you create a plan that meets your needs and stays within your IRIS budget. Your TMG IRIS consultant can connect you to resources in your area, and will be a great source of information for any questions you have about the IRIS program. In a self-directed program like IRIS, you decide who provides your support and services and when they happen. You may have natural support from people in your life, or you may choose to purchase the support you need from an agency or someone that you hire directly. Your TMG IRIS consultant will be there to talk through these decisions with you, and will help you put a plan in place that reflects your choices.

Prior to becoming a member of TMG in July 2017, I spent over 10 years in the social services field, primarily focusing on behavioral health services. I have worked with the Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Division, Independent Care Health Plan, Wraparound Milwaukee, Aurora Psychiatric Hospital, and various other mental health facilities, agencies and community-based residential facilities. I have experience working with children, adults, seniors and families. My graduate work focused on multicultural counseling and trauma-informed care, and I completed my practicum at the Benedict Center, serving as an individual and group counselor for women who were transitioning from corrections facilities, struggling with substance use, dealing with untreated mental illness, experiencing domestic violence, or had been victims of human trafficking. After receiving my Master's degree, I worked on a research team that studied and then published a report entitled, “Resiliency Factors Among Transgender People of Color.”

More about me

How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
In order to “clear the path ahead” with you, I will be sure to provide my partners with patience, acceptance and support.

What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
My favorite thing about being an IRIS Consultant is the idea that we are supporting our partners in taking charge of their own lives.

What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
As a Milwaukee resident, I’m quite knowledgeable about the IRIS program, the populations it serves, and the resources the program provides. I have over 10 years of work experience in the social services field, where I have done case management, counseling, care coordination, insurance utilization review, data collection and analysis, and more. Most importantly, I was my grandfather's caregiver until his passing at age 88. Despite my educational accomplishments and professional background, THAT is the role that I am most proud of and that is what has reinforced the genuine passion about the work I do.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my spare time, I enjoy reading articles and non-fiction novels, playing tennis with my cousin, spending time with my loved ones, having great conversations with my significant other and going out and having a good time with my friends and sorority sisters.
