Care Responsibilities

Your TMG IRIS consultant is your partner as you create a plan that meets your needs and stays within your IRIS budget. Your TMG IRIS consultant can connect you to resources in your area, and will be a great source of information for any questions you have about the IRIS program. In a self-directed program like IRIS, you decide who provides your support and services and when they happen. You may have natural support from people in your life, or you may choose to purchase the support you need from an agency or someone that you hire directly. Your TMG IRIS consultant will be there to talk through these decisions with you, and will help you put a plan in place that reflects your choices.

Specialties (e.g., working with autism, the elderly, employment for people with disabilities or youth in transition, mental health, experience with assisted technology)

Prior to coming to TMG, I worked as a supervisor for a home health organization that was contracted to the State of Kansas Medicaid program. We worked with people that were on the Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) waiver for brain injuries, people who were aging, and also people with physical disabilities. Before that, I worked as a case manager for the HCBS waiver where I assisted the same population. In both jobs, the main focus was to help keep people in their homes, and to help them be happy and productive members of their local communities. I was also appointed to the Traumatic Brain Injury Board for the State of Kansas and have been on the Juvenile Justice Advisory Board in Arizona.

More about me

How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
I am always willing to go above and beyond to help someone in need of help. I’m a very strong advocate for people working to be in charge of their own lives, and I love helping them live life to the fullest regardless of any perceived notions that others may have about them.

What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
I like watching a plan come to fruition. Seeing people work hard to achieve things they might have originally thought they would never be able to do is always rewarding. I love seeing people truly happy with their life and living it to the fullest.

What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
I have a daughter that has Asperger’s and had a foster son that is Autistic. I have seen the struggles that labels can put on people and how that can affect their life and dampen their outlook on their future. I believe in the IRIS program and all it stands for, and the hope it can bring an individual.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
During my free time, lately I’ve thrown myself into wedding planning mode for my upcoming nuptials (May 2017 – I can’t wait!). When I’m not busy being a bride-to-be, I love a good local fair and riding horses. I also have a weakness for local garage sales.
