Go Purple

June is Alzheimer’s and other Dementias Awareness Month:

47 million people worldwide are living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death. It kills more people than breast cancer and prostate cancers combined. It is the only “top 10” cause of death that can’t be prevented, cured or slowed. Every 67 seconds someone in the US develops Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer’s deaths have increased by 71%. Sadly, only 45% are told (or their families) about their diagnosis versus 90% with cancers. It will cost $226 billion to care for those with this disease in 2015, it will cost $1 trillion in 2050*.

In June please take the time to educate yourselves and loved ones on this epidemic facing us all. Learn what you can do to help. Start by taking the Purple Pledge online at http://alz.org/abam/overview.asp
