Joint Finance Committee Approves Northeast Long Term Care Implementation

On November 12, the Legislature’s Joint Committee of Finance approved Family Care and IRIS expansion (also referred to as Northeast Long Term Care Implementation) into the seven northeastern counties (Brown, Kewaunee, Door, Menomonie, Oconto, Marinette, and Shawano). The transition will be sequenced, with the first county likely to transition in June, and all seven counties transitioning by the end of 2015. There will be a 36-month period to work through the county waiting lists.

The Department of Health Services (DHS) will contract with two managed care organizations, Care Wisconsin and Lakeland Care District, to administer Family Care in the seven counties. Any entity interested in being an IRIS Consultant Agency or Fiscal Employer Agent in these counties will have to go through the certification process and become certified in order to provide ICA or FEA services. TMG is submitting its annual ICA certification application this month. Representatives from the TMG ICA and the IRIS SDPC Oversight Agency are working with DHS to develop plans for implementation of IRIS in the Northeast to help ensure a smooth transition. Please stay tuned for more information about the Long Term Care Implementation in this newsletter or in all-staff memos.
