How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
I partner with people to learn about their specific goals. Once goals are identified I can determine what services and supports are available and which can help meet those goals.
What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
My favorite thing about being an IRIS Consultant is helping people meet their goals and stay as independent as they are able. Self-direction means the individual receiving care makes the choices and allows them more freedom which is so important.
What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
My real life experience has prepared me to become an IRIS Consultant. When my grandfather was terminally ill, I helped my grandmother keep him home. He was able to stay with his pets, near his loved ones and in an environment that was familiar and comfortable to him. Later, I have worked with individuals with developmental disabilities gain valuable life skills, such as employment.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I like to be outdoors with my two children. I also like to read, my favorite books are non-fiction.
