More about me
How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
When I partner with individuals and their families my focus is on helping them interpret the maze of the social services systems with ease and clarity.
What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
My favorite part of my job is when I see firsthand the joy and fulfillment that people have when they are able to accomplish the ambitions that they have always dreamed of. I especially enjoy watching a plan come together to offer the support that people need to stay active in their community, despite their physical and social limitations.
What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
The bulk of my experience that has helped me to be a successful IRIS Consultant is my job as a Job Developer. During this endeavor I helped people with cognitive disabilities obtain employment in community settings. Working with their families and caregivers to assist them in the searching, hiring and training process taught me a lot about the struggles and joys of obtaining employment when one is faced with prejudice. In addition to this I have also obtained valuable experience for the last 18 years as a direct caregiver and lead staff at a variety of Adult Family Homes for people with cognitive disabilities.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
One of my greatest hobbies is Fly Fishing for Smallmouth Bass. I also enjoy anything else that is outdoors (hiking, canoeing, camping, etc.).
