More about me
How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
Partnering means learning about the person as an individual, finding out about their goals, and helping them to achieve those goals. Working with a person to identify their current abilities and supports, identifying services or supports that are needed, and helping them to connect to the resources available in the community helps the individual to reach their goals.
What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
I believe in self-directed care and in helping people who use community services to feel comfortable with their choices. I enjoy the conversations that lead to learning together. We are all a part of our community and we all have the ability and the responsibility to help each other.
What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
I have a diverse background and varied interests. I feel comfortable talking to people from all walks of life. I enjoy learning about people's cultures, interests, and beliefs. I value each person's opinions and try not to inflict my opinions on others. I enjoy learning new things, and believe we all have valuable experiences we can share with each other. My educational experiences and work experiences in counseling, health care, and business add to my knowledge base.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy my family and my home. I like to garden, to knit, crochet, and sew. I make jewelry with my daughter. I socialize with friends at activities and at church. I enjoy reading good books.
