Prior to joining TMG, I had 18 years of experience working with individuals with various developmental and physical disabilities, including people living with Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, cognitive delays, behavioral disorders, and seizure disorders. I worked for Homes for Independent Living – a group home setting where I assisted individuals with personal cares, assistive devices, and activities of daily living. More recently, I worked for 16 years at Lakeside Packaging Plus (LPP), a non-profit organization who provides day-services, prevocational services, employment to adults with disabilities. I worked direct care at LPP before being promoted to case manager, a position I enjoyed for 10 years. I assisted with the development of a prevocational program for adults with disabilities who want to work in the community, as well as taught them soft skills and job-coached to help them with workplace success. I have been trained in crisis prevention intervention, which focuses on de-escalating and handling potentially violent situations, and have also worked in a middle school special education classroom with higher needs students.
