More about me
How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
Communication is key to developing a plan. Casual conversation about who that person is can open the door to many dreams and goals. Once our discussion creates the plan, we will work together to build supports to begin the plan. Our partnership will have many steps on the way and I will be there for support to ultimately achieve the goal.
What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
I enjoy meeting various people and learning about their life experiences as a TMG IRIS Consultant. Each person has something new to teach me and I like that my position allows me to learn new things daily.
What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
My social work education has offered many experiences that have been useful to me as a TMG IRIS consultant, as it concentrated on working together with individuals with intellectual disabilities. I studied in a mental health center focusing on people dually diagnosed with an intellectual disability and a mental illness, which taught me various strategies to overcome life's challenges. I also have experience working with people with intellectual disabilities living in their own homes and partnering with them to develop a safe plan for independent living.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy time with my family. We like to be outdoors, experiencing nature and going camping. I am also passionate about music and try to see many live performances.
