More about me
How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
I believe that helping a person starts with listening well so I can identify their values and concerns. My job is to help people create their version of a good life. Once goals are established, my role is help them remove any barriers to their goals, so that they can move forward. I approach problems as a challenge and enjoy coming up solutions. I see us as working together to create the life they want.
What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
Being a TMG IRIS consultant is fulfilling for me because I enjoy witnessing the victories big and small, that the people I partner with through the IRIS Program achieve. It is immensely satisfying to see how new supports, helping someone navigate the different systems or even just encouragement can change someone's life.
What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
I have worked in social services for over 30 years. I have worked with individuals with a variety of disabilities, including physical disabilities, developmental disabilities, and mental health challenges. Most of my jobs have focused on employment - either at a work center or community employment.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love animals and have two cats. I enjoy reading mysteries. I like to garden and sing in my church choir.
