More about me

How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
In my work as an IRIS Consultant, I have had the opportunity to partner with great individuals and families. I feel that it is key to my role that I get to know the individuals I'm partnering with so we can build an IRIS plan which fits their desired outcomes. I see my role as an IRIS Consultant as more of a guide to assist in navigating the path to living a more self-directed life and assisting them in clearing that path by recognizing supports, natural and paid, and utilizing services to remain as independent as possible, as well as, safe and healthy.

What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
My favorite thing about being an IRIS Consultant has to be meeting so many great individuals and families. I am constantly amazed and humbled at the determination of the people I work with and the dedication of families and caregivers. There is a saying that if you chose a job you love you will never have to work again. I can honestly say that many times I end my work day thinking how lucky I am to have such a great job.

What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
I believe that having such diversity in my past with the populations that I have worked with and the capacity in which I did that work helps me greatly as an IC. I have worked with individuals with disabilities and mental illness, older adults, children, and animals. I've been a teacher, a coach, an employee, and volunteer, as well as my most cherished role, mother. I feel that my experience with so many different individuals and in those differing roles helps me to keep an open mind and think outside the box in situations where things are not cut and dry. I have always enjoyed being involved in something that is making a positive change in someone's life or in our world. I feel that as an IC, I get to do just that.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my children and friends. I like to play and watch sports. I am a Packer fan and love spending a sunny summer day at a Brewers game and tailgate party. I, also, enjoy baking, exercising, playing board games and doing puzzles. I volunteer for organizations and at events in my community, as well.
