More about me
How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
I know that there is not one single approach to partnering with people, as everyone is different and unique in their own way. That’s why it is important to me to get to know each person I meet so that I can get a better understanding of their personality to respectfully work alongside them in a way that makes them feel empowered, comfortable and independent. I am a team player and enjoy communicating effectively to get through our journey together.
What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
My favorite thing about being a TMG IRIS Consultant is supporting self-direction. It makes me extremely happy to see a program that allows individuals the freedom to decide what they want to do with their own life. Being an IRIS Consultant brings so much positivity, not only to the people I partner with, but to myself as well. It is truly an honor to be able to experience the journey alongside the people I partner with them, and watch them learn, grow, and reach their goals through the ups and downs that life brings to all of us.
What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
Helping others has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. My first job was at the Wisconsin Lions Camp in Rosholt, WI, where I lucky enough to meet several children and adults with various disabilities. Every day that I was able to go to work was always a positive experience. I was not only able to assist each individual, but I was able to get to know so many of them and was able to have fun with them as they camped and participated in several activities. The experience is what guided me into social work. During college, I worked as a youth behavior specialist. The children I worked with struggled with mental health. Some children had cognitive and intellectual disabilities. Each child was so different and unique in their own way. Getting to know each child and their personality was such a fun experience and a great opportunity to practice social skills and build positive relationships. I continue to have a passion to not only help people, but to build positive relationships and to be a positive support system for my friends, family, and my participants.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time, I love being outside, especially in the fall! I love the colors and the weather of fall, and of course all of the fall activities. I enjoy attending church on Sunday mornings with my friends. I enjoy taking walks with my dog, Lady. I also enjoy spending time with family, friends and my boyfriend. Another thing that I enjoy is working out and staying active! Not only is good for your physical health, but it’s also so good for your mental health!
