IRIS Expands to Northeast Wisconsin
By: Starr Burke, Community Partnership and Outreach Manager
The northeast portion of Wisconsin continues to wait for long-term care expansion news. The Department of Health Services (DHS) announced the Family Care Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) to serve the seven-county area on September 22nd and DHS will now negotiate contracts with these organizations. The next steps for the chosen MCOs, Care Wisconsin and Lakeland Care District (LCD), will be to begin certification and submit necessary documents to the Legislature’s Joint Committee on Finance for review and approval. We know that Family Care and IRIS must be offered in at least one county during the 1st quarter of 2015, with the remainder to follow by October 2015.
TMG is committed to expanding the IRIS Consultant Agency (ICA) to the identified counties once they are announced. As we learn more, we will share news related to expansion and rollover work. DHS is required to submit the proposed MCO contracts to the Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee for active review and approval by the end of 2014.
