How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
My goal as an IRIS Consultant is to assist my clients in helping them live a full independent life where they are in control of how they live. My approach to doing this is by getting to know my clients and determining what is essential to them. I will then work with them to determine how to use their IRIS budget in order to include all essential components.
What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
Prior to becoming an IRIS Consultant, I worked as a case aid for a social service agency. In this role, it was my responsibility to assist the care team in finding essential resources for our clients. This role taught me the importance of hard work in order to truly make an impact and get my clients the essentials that they require.
What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
My education was very important, but “real life” experience has been even more powerful for me. As a volunteer (social worker) for a Russian speaking community, I learned the importance of asking questions and really listening. Sometimes, it’s hard for people to put into words what they really want, because they're not used to being asked. I truly enjoy the conversations that lead to solving problems and learning together.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time, I love to travel. I have been to many countries all over the world and the next places I want to go include Antarctica, Japan, and New Zealand.
