Location & Experience

Other Experience:
Prior to becoming an IRIS Consultant, I worked for a Comprehensive Community Services program for about two years. I have extensive experience with supporting adult individuals with a variety of mental illnesses, cognitive and developmental disabilities, substance abuse concerns, etc. This experience plays a big role in what IRIS Consultants do and before coming to TMG, I was an IRIS Consultant for the Midstate Independent Living Choices ICA. I was able to connect participants with the services they identified in their LTC outcomes such as DVR/Project Search for employment, youth in transition, home modifications, budget amendments and one-time expenses, etc. I am passionate and driven to work with individuals so they can live their lives how they want but ensuring that their needs and goals are met.

Partnering with people to "clear the path ahead" means to utilize the person-centered approach and link different services and supports to assist individuals achieve their goals. This entails actively listening and providing education on what resources are out there to best achieve important life goals.

What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
My favorite aspect about being an IRIS Consultant is the sense of fulfillment after completing a task that both the participant and I have worked hard and long on. It brings me joy knowing that the assistance we provide also brings joy to the participant.

What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
My education and life experiences play a big factor as to why I became an IRIS Consultant. I am a Hmong-American first generation and to have the opportunity to make a positive impact on others who may not have access to equal care, is a great privilege!

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy being outside and exploring nature! I love to learn so I also enjoy watching documentaries, reading, and engaging in deep conversations with others to learn about their life from their perspective.
