Location & Experience

Other Experience:
I previously worked in a day program for adults with disabilities where I had the opportunity to work with both seniors and adults aged 18-60. The program encouraged participants to become active in the community and identify what goals they had for gaining more independence. Many individuals worked towards employment, learning daily living skills, or needing fewer supports in their home setting.

More About Me

How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
The first step, which is the most important (and an ongoing process) is determining what you would like to focus on, what goals you have for the future and how you want to live your life. From there I will partner with you to discover what services or supports would help you to meet your goals and the other factors that are meaningful to you. I am there as a resource to help you use your budget effectively and to help navigate the program, as well as to make sure that your services continue to meet your needs every step of the way.

What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
The IRIS program is focused on the individual and gives them the control. I appreciate the opportunity to be a partner with participants, to build a professional relationship to help support them and be a reliable resource in their journey. Being able to assist in achieving personal goals, helping each individual to live the life they want, and building relationships with each person and their families are my favorite parts about this job.

What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
A major focus of the day program was building independence (whether it was important for the individual to build skills for at home, in the community, or at the day program), and building those skills during outings or in-house groups. I communicated frequently with the individuals' external contacts, including their families, any residential providers, or outside case managers, to make sure that we were all working as a large team to support the person in each part of their life.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love Milwaukee for the huge variety of community events it offers. In the summer, I especially like going to the outdoor music series and to the ethnic festivals. I also enjoy hiking, spending time in the Northwoods and traveling.
