How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
I partner with people by listening to their stories, challenges, and goals. I believe that developing a relationship and identifying individual needs will set the groundwork for a great partnership and a successful plan. I will help the people partner with in the IRIS Program to clear the path ahead by providing support and guidance, helping to find resources, and using creative problem solving to develop the best service plan for the individual!
What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
My favorite thing about being an IRIS Consultant is meeting new people and supporting people to achieve their goals. I enjoy getting to know the individuals I am partnering with and their families and seeing first-hand how the IRIS program affects their lives and the things that can be accomplished through this program.
What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
My degree in Communicative Disorders helped me to learn alternative ways to communicate and an understanding of speech pathology. My most valuable experiences came from my ten years of work as a caregiver, supervisor, and trainer in an Adult Family Home. I have had hands on experience working with adults with development dishabilles, physical disabilities, and the older adults, as well as supervisory skills that taught me to always ask questions and always strive to improve the lives of those who need help. My work as a trainer of new staff in the Adult Family Homes has helped me to learn patience and a good understanding of how others learn and process information.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two children, as well as other family and friends. I love to entertain friends and family, cook and bake, and spend time outdoors. I also like to travel and volunteer with the Girl Scouts.
