How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
Engage in active listening first and foremost. Its important to listen to the concerns of the people I am working with. I also encourage open and honest communication to allow people to be transparent about what is bothering them or the resources they need. I allow learn the strengths of each person I am working with and build from those strengths.
What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
Working directly with people and making an impact within my community
What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
I worked as a case manager for Wisconsin Works W2 TANF program. As a case manager I was able to assess the needs of my clients , develop and implement plans for the clines and found resources. Whether a client wanted resources on pursuing their GED , applying for SSI/SSDI, or finding employment I was the gate keeper to assist with this.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I like going to comedy shows.
