More About Me

How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
I partner with people by getting to know what their strengths and goals are. I listen carefully to their background and what is important to them in their lives. I provide resources, guidance and encouragement. I educate people about what services are available and provide them with choices. I empower people by helping them focus on their strengths, knowledge and supports they have in their lives.

What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
I enjoy meeting people and partnering with them on their journey in the IRIS Program. I enjoy being a part of empowering individuals to live the type of life they choose.

What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
I was a CNA for 14 years. I learned empathy and compassion for people. This experience helped me to see the perspective of the individual, caregivers and the families involved. I worked in a shelter with women and their children who have been abused/battered providing support/resources/assistance as they learned how to put their lives back on track after being involved in an abusive relationship/marriage. I worked with the homeless population as a Case Manager in a homeless shelter. I helped people connect to resources in the community to obtain employment, skills and housing. I provided guidance in learning how to budget finances and enrich employment skills. I provided a safe environment that was supportive and compassionate that met their needs at a low point in their lives. I also provided connection to resources in the community that could provide items needed to get a fresh start. I organized Fund Raisers for the Shelter and provided education in the community on homelessness.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
One of my newest hobbies/passions is teaching myself how to paint with acrylics. I enjoy painting landscapes and a variety of subject matter. I love gardening. I enjoy growing vegetables for my family and do some canning/preserving as well. I love cooking with fresh vegetables and herbs from our garden. I enjoy spending time with my family. I have four grown children and one wonderful grandchild that I am very proud of. I especially love spending time outside, camping, boating, fishing and spending time around a campfire!
