As the sibling, parent, and an educator of people with special needs, I have an edge that few others have. I can look at an individual's needs from many viewpoints, empathize, and advocate for what best accomplishes the desired outcome for those involved. Additionally, I have personally utilized many of the services available in Washington County for both my child and my students. Throughout my life, I have worked in various of positions with people of all ages and a wide range of disabilities.

How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
I am dedicated to achieving a high quality of life for people. I believe helping families prepare for the future is imperative. Listening carefully to someone's goals and desires helps me determine how to guide them toward success effectively.
What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
I believe that many families are simply not aware of some of the supports available to them in our communities. I want to help others understand that their needs are recognized and there are programs in place that can help them fulfill their vision of success.
What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
I am the mother/guardian of a child with developmental delays who is also legally blind. I share guardianship of my sister, who has Downs Syndrome. I have taught Special Education at both the Jr. High and High School level, and I received my Master's degree with a specialty in Transition Planning. My whole life has been dedicated to helping people with disabilities be the best they can be.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love spending time with my family and dogs. I love to travel, explore, and learn more about other cultures. As a Certified Aromatherapist, I enjoy creating customized blends for myself and others. I am constantly reading and consider myself to be a lifelong learner.
