How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
Partnering means taking the time to get to know your participant's needs, strengths and challenges. Together, we will work as a team to build on these areas to ensure self-directed independence.
What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
I truly enjoy working with the people I partner with and watching them grow and become empowered with the tools and resources available in the community. I enjoy being their consultant and using my skills to motivate them and encourage them to think outside the box and become the best they can be.
What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
My past experience as a Human Services worker has allowed me to work with all types of individuals with different needs and challenges. It has allowed me to understand that everyone learns at a different pace and understands things on different levels. It has taught me to take the time to get to know the individual and help them understand at their level. Working at the Department of Health Services has given me the knowledge of the Medicaid program and has given me the tools to educate the community on the program and eligibility requirements.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time, I like to travel with my family and to go shopping for deals. I also like to spend as much time with my husband and children.
