How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
The approach I take when partnering with new participants include first getting to know a little bit about them, either through a quick survey or verbally. I then inquire about long and short-term goals and how they person see's these needs being met. From there, I work with them to secure a plan to accomplish these things.
What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
My favorite part about being an IRIS Consultant is helping people remain as independent as possible. It is so rewarding to see people reach their long and short term-goals.
What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
In addition to working with The Social Development Commission, after college I spent quite a bit of time with my grandmother, helping her live the remining years of her life doing things she's always wanted to do such as being part of day and evening programs, as well as keeping busy in the community.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends!
