More About Me
How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
A partnership is when two people come together with a mutual interest. The mutual interest that we have is to locate the best community resources that will help you achieve your goals. In order to accomplish this, I need to get to know you. Understand what your likes, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses are. From there, we will create a goal and plan that best works for you. We will work as partners to locate the best supports and services for you to ensure that you are happy.
What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
Working in the field, I believe that having quality services and maintaining independence is very important. I believe that being in charge of your own care, finances, housing, etc. is important for any person. I've worked with a lot of people in this field that aren't in charge of their own care. I truly admire the IRIS program for allowing people to self-direct their care. I find it very rewarding to help people accomplish their goals.
What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
I have always been a caring and helpful individual. I really love people. I love talking to people, getting to know them and, most importantly, helping them. Through life experiences and working in this field, I have truly learned that everyone is unique. Conversing with some of the people that I have worked with has really opened my eyes to some of the challenges they face with their supports and services. This has pushed me to be an advocate for the people that I serve, and to ensure that they receive the best services and supports.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I'd like to think of myself as a big kid. I love taking my son to a lot of fun and cool places to explore. I love going to Dave and Buster's, bowling, the movies, swimming and reading. I also like to make jewelry. What I enjoy most is participating in seasonal and holiday activities. I like picking pumpkins in the fall, looking at Christmas decorations in the winter and watching the fireworks in July.
