How do you Partner with people to 'clear the path ahead'?
First and foremost is to figure out what the person I am partnering with sees as the path they choose to follow. Then we will talk about the many things that might be along that path and if they are ready to tackle them. Being able to support them along that path, encourage them when the path has some difficult road blocks and being there to celebrate challenges they conquer on their way along the path.
What's your favorite thing about being an IRIS consultant?
People and the interactions I have with them. Both people who are easy to work with and those who are not always easy. It is learning about people and their lives that intrigues me. It also teaches me that there are so many ways to do things in life and have the same outcome.
What past experience prepared you to become an IRIS Consultant?
Working with many types of people both young and old. Being familiar with systems such as Social Security and county agencies. Working side by side with peers who have knowledge and shared that knowledge with me.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
My family is important to me and I try to spend time with them. I am a local hospice volunteer and enjoy that. I have animals (dog and bird) that I spend time with. I love to garden and spend my summers growing vegetables that I will eat all winter. I am learning to bake using yeast right now.
